The Meaning Behind the Ink: The Story

One day my brother, Bevin, saw a crow being mauled by a cat in his yard. He ran out and rescued the crow and took him up on his deck, giving him food and water until the crow felt well enough to fly away. But the crow remembered him and would visit him on the deck, squawking for attention and treats.

Bevin called him “Turkey Man” and drank his morning coffee on the deck with Turkey Man most mornings for a few years. Turkey Man often thought he needed some coffee too and would try to get to the cup—sometimes spilling it.

I knew I wanted a memorial tattoo for Bevin after he died. It took two years to decide that I wanted Turkey Man spilling Bevin’s coffee. I think Megan did a fabulous job, and it is very special to me.
