The Most Beautiful Flowers
June 2015 – I submitted a request for a large floral tattoo on my right shoulder, dripping down onto my back and arm. We had our initial consultation that summer, and the tattoo was started in September 2015.
The first appointment in September was just the outline—pretty intense, but also pretty simple. Every month, I continued to go for 2–3 hour sessions until it was complete.
The second time I went in—for the colors and details of the flowers—was nothing short of amazing… He didn’t include any of that in the initial outline. What he did was have all these REAL pictures of the flowers on the floor beneath me and would free-draw/tattoo the details and coloring based on what the REAL pictures looked like.
The thing I tell EVERYONE when they comment on my tattoo is how amazing John was—to be able to not have the details as part of my outline, but to do it all just from looking at a picture of the flower and make that happen on a tattoo!!
I recommend him to everyone—sorry, that’s probably why his books are always closed. Forever, this is my favorite tattoo.
